Empowered to lead

January 19-23, 2026

Good Afternoon Cavalier Families,

As we wrap up the second week of our second semester, we are proud of the hard work and perseverance our Cavaliers continue to show. Our 3rd and 4th graders successfully completed their KAP ELA interims, and our 5th graders demonstrated great focus as they completed both ELA and Science interims this week. These experiences are building confidence and stamina as we prepare for state assessments this spring. Thank you so much for your continued encouragement!

In grades K–2, students are making strong progress in their decoding(reading) and encoding(writing) skills, as well as in number sense and basic operations. Daily reading and math fluency practice for just 10–15 minutes makes a big difference. Please review your classroom teacher’s newsletter for specific skills to practice at home, and don’t hesitate to reach out if you need support. At DCES, we are committed to empowering our students, staff, and families! Thank you so much for your partnership!
